Overview & History

Among the state daggers and edged weapons are, among others, the Government Officials’ Daggers (M1939), Diplomatic Daggers (M1939), RLB Daggers (1st Model 1936, 2nd Model 1938 as well as Honor Daggers with Damascus blades), Technische Nothilfe (TeNo) daggers and hewers (M1938), DRK daggers (German Red Cross), the Reichsbahn Dagger (M1938), Postschutz Dagger (1939) as well as Customs daggers for Land and Water Customs. In addition, Hirschfänger of the Deutsche Jägerschaft and the State Forestry Service, in both plain and luxury versions, are today important collector’s pieces.

• Diplomatic Dagger (M1939): Elegant design for members of the diplomatic corps.
• Government Officials’ Dagger (M1939): Simple yet representative version for Reich civil officials.
• TeNo Dagger & Hewer (M1938): Official sidearms for leaders and NCOs of the Technische Nothilfe.
• RLB Daggers (1936 & 1938): Typically decorated with Reich Air Protection League emblems, rarely with Damascus blades.
• DRK Daggers & Hewers (M1938): For leaders and enlisted men of the German Red Cross, partly in special “Wohlfahrt” variants.

Collectible Value & Authenticity

Original state edged weapons are highly sought after by collectors today. Especially valuable are rare versions such as the RLB Honor Dagger M1938 with Damascus blade or ornate luxury Hirschfänger. Collectors place great importance on condition, original fittings, grip plates, scabbards, as well as accompanying documents and hangers.
