Leather Hanger 1st Model for RAD Enlisted Men’s & NCO Hewer
Leather Hanger 1st Model for the RAD Hewer of enlisted men and NCOs. Early version of the carrying hanger for the Reich Labour Service (RAD), suitable for the RAD Hewer Model 1937. Manufactured from brown leather with stitched and riveted fittings. A collector-oriented replacement or completion piece for restoring or completing a corresponding RAD hewer set.
Construction: The hanger consists of brown leather in the typical configuration of the 1st model for enlisted personnel and NCOs of the Reich Labour Service. The leather suspension loop served for attachment to the scabbard of the RAD hewer. Age-related usage and storage traces present.
Condition: Well-preserved example with period patina and normal age-related wear. The leather texture remains clearly visible. Please refer to the photographs for further details.
Historical Background: RAD Leather Hanger 1st Model
The Reich Labour Service (RAD) issued the so-called RAD Hewer Model 1937 as a sidearm for enlisted personnel and NCOs. A specially designed leather carrying hanger was used for suspension, produced in several variants.
The 1st model belongs to the earlier variants and is characterized by its simple, functional construction made from brown leather. These hangers were attached directly to the scabbard and ensured secure carrying of the hewer on belt or uniform.
Original or period RAD carrying hangers are frequently sought today to complete incomplete pieces or for the historically correct restoration of a RAD hewer.
