Railway Water Protection Police Dagger [M1938] - Carl Eickhorn Solingen
Rare Reichsbahn / Water Protection Police Leader’s Dagger, manufactured by the renowned maker Carl Eickhorn, Solingen. Model 1938, total length 40.1 cm. The dagger ranks among the rarest edged weapons of the Third Reich.
Grip: The grip is round and decorated with double-twisted fluting. It is made of black synthetic material, with the flutes convexly raised. The pommel is round and bears a swastika; it is firmly screwed onto the tang of the blade. At the lower end of the grip is the characteristic Railway Protection grip ring. The crossguard features a Reichsadler (imperial eagle) facing left, its wings curving downward in scroll-like forms. In its claws, the eagle holds a wreath enclosing a swastika.
Blade: The double-edged blade remains in excellent condition. The original crossgrain is fully preserved and clearly visible. The reverse side bears the maker’s mark “ORIGINAL EICKHORN, SOLINGEN”. Between the blade shoulders the original leather buffer is intact and properly fitted.
Scabbard: The scabbard is crafted from one piece of drawn steel, finished on both sides with a granular surface texture. It has a mouthpiece and two suspension bands with fully closed, movable carrying rings. The tip is smoothly rounded with no dents or damage. The mouthpiece is separately inserted and secured at the rear with a screw. Overall, the scabbard remains in excellent condition, free of dents or deformations.
