Water Custom Official's Dagger by Carl Eickhorn Solingen
Officer’s Dagger for the Water Customs Service Model 1937 with complete gilded finish, manufactured by Carl Eickhorn Solingen. The dagger has an overall length of approximately 40.5 cm and represents the typical configuration for officers of the German Water Customs Service.
Grip: Round grip construction with twisted fluting and original wire wrapping. The wooden core is covered in blue leather. The convex grip fluting corresponds to the typical design of this model. The conical pommel is secured to the tang and decorated with 14 oak leaves. The grip ferrule at the lower end features eight oak leaves arranged side by side. The crossguard is formed as a Reich eagle holding a wreath with national emblem in its claws.
Blade: Bright double-edged blade without rust or nicks. The crossgrain is fully preserved. The reverse side bears the maker mark “Carl Eickhorn Solingen”. The blade tip remains intact. Between the blade shoulders and crossguard remains the original leather buffer washer.
Scabbard: Iron scabbard with blue leather covering and gilded fittings. The scabbard consists of three fittings, with the upper fitting also serving as the throat piece. All fittings are secured by a side screw. The two suspension rings for the hanger are welded and fully closed.
