NPEA-Daggers of the National Political Education Institutions

NPEA / Napola Edged Weapons – NPEA Daggers

The National Political Education Institutes (NPEA/Napola) were elite boarding schools founded in 1933. The NPEA dagger (from 1935) was issued to course participants, instructors and leaders. The blade bears the motto “Mehr sein als scheinen” (“Be more than appear”). No RZM marks occur on genuine NPEA daggers. Scabbards were usually olive-green lacquered; occasional brown/black examples exist.

FAQ

Do authentic NPEA daggers have RZM marks?

No. NPEA belonged to the education ministry; genuine NPEA daggers are not RZM-marked.

How to identify a leader dagger with chain scabbard?

Chain suspension (often 5/7 links), DRGM/OLC-marked clips in many cases, scabbard and chain details attribute to makers.

Two or three models — which is correct?

German sources favor 3 models (student/instructor/leader); overseas often 2 (student & leader/teacher). Primary docs remain inconclusive.
