Klaas Robert, Solingen

Robert Klaas, Feine Solinger Stahlwaren, is one of the oldest edged weapons manufacturers from Solingen-Ohligs, part of the famous Blade City Solingen in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The company was founded in 1834 by Peter Klaas and has been family-owned for seven generations. Known for pocket knives and steel goods, it expanded in the 19th century and produced uniform daggers during the Nazi era. During this time, Robert Klaas received the RZM code M7/37 and RZM 1051/##/SS, authorizing the production of uniform items for the NSDAP and SS. The manufacturer crafted SA daggers, SS daggers, and other blades. The estimated production quantity of SA daggers was about 1000 pieces, making these models an absolute rarity – on a rarity scale from 1 to 5, they are rated 5. The daggers bear the engraving “Alles für Deutschland” on the blade, with nickel-plated handles and detailed emblems, reflecting high quality and precise workmanship. Many models have a bright polish with visible cross graining. After World War II, the company focused again on civilian products like pocket knives and is still active today, emphasizing handcrafted knives.

The logo of Robert Klaas is iconic and features “Kissing Cranes” (two cranes touching beaks), etched on the blade or handle, symbolizing precision and tradition. This Klaas trademark has been used since the founding and is world-famous for Solingen quality.
