SS Honor Dagger [Heinrich Himmler] with Complete Inscription by Carl Eickhorn Solingen

SS Honor Dagger with complete H. Himmler dedication, early production from the period 1933–1935, manufactured by Carl Eickhorn Solingen. This is a rare variation of the early SS service dagger with the complete reverse dedication inscription “In herzlicher Kameradschaft H. Himmler”. The front side of the blade bears the SS motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue”, while the lower ricasso shows the maker mark Carl Eickhorn Solingen with the well-known squirrel trademark.

Grip & Fittings: Black ebony grip with inserted enameled SS runes emblem and national eagle in nickel silver. Both grip emblems are firmly set and internally prong-fastened. The grip screw is undamaged. The fit between the grip and the crossguards is clean and precise. The lower crossguard is stamped with the workstation number “2”. The fittings are made of high-quality nickel alloy, corresponding to early production.

Blade: Double-edged blade preserved in original condition. The front side bears the etched SS motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue”. The reverse side shows the complete dedication inscription “In herzlicher Kameradschaft H. Himmler”. The lower ricasso bears the maker mark Carl Eickhorn Solingen with the squirrel logo. The blade shows light rubbing and scabbard contact marks, but is overall well preserved. The blade shoulders fit precisely into the lower crossguard.

Scabbard: Original iron scabbard with blackened finish. There is a small dent on the front side, otherwise the scabbard is in good condition. Both scabbard fittings are made of nickel-plated sheet steel and are each secured on the sides with two screws. The upper fitting carries the suspension ring for the corresponding hanger. The scabbard corresponds to the early configuration of this dagger model.

Special Features: Especially noteworthy is the combination of early production, maker Carl Eickhorn Solingen, complete H. Himmler dedication, firmly inserted grip emblems, workstation number “2” on the lower crossguard and original iron scabbard. This dagger is a historically classifiable collector’s item from the field of early SS edged weapons and is described here strictly as a contemporary historical object.

Historical Background: SS Honor Dagger with H. Himmler Dedication by Carl Eickhorn Solingen

The early SS service dagger was introduced from 1933 onward as a sidearm worn within the SS. Its general form was based on the SA service dagger, but it differed through the black grip, SS-specific emblems and its own blade motto.

Examples with the reverse dedication “In herzlicher Kameradschaft H. Himmler” are commonly referred to in collecting terminology as SS Honor Daggers. This term describes the special dedication variant and is used for historical and collector classification.

Carl Eickhorn Solingen was one of the major Solingen manufacturers of edged weapons. The squirrel logo on the blade is an important feature for maker identification. For early SS daggers, material execution, crossguards, grip emblems, blade shoulders, scabbard construction and possible workstation numbers are also relevant details for classification.

The SS was a central organization within the National Socialist system of rule and terror. The edged weapon described here is presented exclusively as a historical collector’s item and contemporary artifact, without political or ideological endorsement or glorification.
