SA Dagger [Late Version] with Hanger by RZM M7/37 (Robert Klaas Solingen)
Very well-preserved SA service dagger of the late production period, dating from approximately 1939–1942. Manufactured by the officially approved RZM producer Robert Klaas, Solingen, identified by the maker code RZM M7/37. The dagger is offered complete with an original three-piece SA hanger, forming a coherent and highly collectible ensemble of late SA production.
Grip: Brown-stained wooden grip in exceptionally fine condition. The aluminium national eagle is cleanly and flush-set into the wood. Above it is the enamelled SA emblem, originally crimped and untouched. The crossguards are silver-plated. The grip fits tightly and without play between the guards, showing no cracks, chips, or damage.
Blade: Double-edged, mirror-bright steel blade with fully retained crossgrain. The obverse is evenly and deeply etched with the motto “Alles für Deutschland”. The reverse bears the RZM maker mark “RZM M7/37 – Robert Klaas, Solingen”. The blade shoulders close precisely and gap-free against the crossguard.
Scabbard: Original brown-painted steel scabbard in outstanding condition. The paint finish is fully preserved. Both scabbard fittings are mounted at the sides with round, untouched screws. The chape is undamaged, showing no dents, pressure marks, or impact traces. An exceptionally well-preserved scabbard of late SA manufacture.
Hanger: Original three-piece SA leather hanger in very fine condition. The fully functional snap clip is stamped “RZM M5/71” (Overhoff & Cie., Lüdenscheid – OLC). The metal components (buckle, clip, hook) are very well preserved and show only minor, age-consistent wear. A fully matching and authentic carrying assembly.
Historical context: Late production SA service dagger
The SA service dagger was introduced in 1933 as the official sidearm of the Sturmabteilung (SA). While early examples featured high-quality nickel silver fittings and elaborate workmanship, later production was increasingly standardized and subject to material reduction.
This late production example, dating from approximately 1939 onward, is characteristic of RZM-regulated manufacture, with simplified components and a clearly defined maker code. The RZM code M7/37 identifies Robert Klaas, Solingen as the manufacturer.
Complete ensembles with well-preserved blade, original scabbard, and a matching three-piece SA hanger are especially sought after, as they clearly document the final production phase of SA service daggers.
