SS Full Röhm Honor Dagger [Ernst Röhm] by Robert Klaas Solingen
Rare SS honour dagger from the early production period 1933–1935 with fully preserved Ernst Röhm dedication. The dagger was made by Robert Klaas, Solingen and is offered together with a matching early hanger. A distinctive and especially desirable collector’s piece from the early SS edged weapon field.
Grip: Black wooden grip in typical early configuration. Fitted are the SS runes and the nickel national eagle, both original and period-correct, clamped from the inside. The crossguards and fittings are made of nickel silver. Internally, both crossguards are marked “St & St”; the lower crossguard also bears the Roman numeral “III” for Berlin.
Blade: Bright blade with preserved crossgrain. On the front is the deeply etched SS motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue”. The reverse shows the full dedication “In herzlicher Kameradschaft Ernst Röhm”. Below appears the maker’s mark “Robert Klaas Solingen”. The blade shoulders close cleanly against the lower crossguard. Light scabbard rubbing is present; near the lower crossguard there is slight surface rust.
Scabbard: Straight iron scabbard with original blued finish. The two scabbard fittings of nickel silver are each secured laterally with two screws. The throat and tip show an evenly matured surface and match the early overall appearance of the dagger very well.
Hanger: Black leather hanger of early production with a functioning snap fastener. Early unmarked variation. Buckle and fastener are made of nickel-plated steel and complement the dagger in an authentic manner.
Historical Context: Early SS honour dagger with full Ernst Röhm dedication
The SS honour dagger with the full dedication “In herzlicher Kameradschaft Ernst Röhm” is among the especially sought-after variants of early SS dagger production. Such pieces belong to the period before the later standardized versions and are characterized by high-grade materials, early production features, and a distinctly individual appearance.
Typical characteristics of early examples include nickel silver fittings, internally-clamped insignia, a strongly etched motto, and the characteristic combination of early grip construction with an original blued scabbard. In this case, the regional attribution through the crossguard marking “III” for Berlin adds further collector interest.
The maker Robert Klaas, Solingen is among the desirable names within early SS daggers. Combined with the full Röhm dedication, the matching early hanger, and the coherent preserved condition, this forms a particularly appealing collector’s piece within German organizational edged weapons.
