SA Dagger [Late Version] with Hanger by RZM M7/104 (Ludwig Zeitler Wien)
SA Service Dagger from the late production period, approx. 1939–1942. Manufactured by the RZM-approved maker Ludwig Zeitler, Vienna, identified by the code RZM M7/104. This dagger is offered complete with an original and scarce brown SA vertical hanger.
Grip: Brown wooden grip with a neatly inset nickel-silver national eagle. Above it is the enamelled SA roundel, originally crimped from the inside with no visible signs of tampering. The crossguards are silver-plated, showing partial, age-related wear to the plating. The grip is tight between the guards. Light period wear is visible to the reverse of the grip.
Blade: Double-edged steel blade. The obverse shows the motto “Alles für Deutschland”, clearly and evenly etched. The reverse bears the RZM code “RZM M7/104 – Ludwig Zeitler Wien”. The blade shoulders meet the lower guard precisely and without gaps.
Scabbard: Original brown-painted steel scabbard in exceptionally well-preserved condition. Both scabbard fittings are secured with round side screws. The tip is undamaged—no dents, pressure marks or edge knocks. A particularly attractive late-period SA scabbard.
Hanger: Original brown vertical leather hanger in very nice condition. The functional snap clip is stamped Assmann / DRGM. Metal parts (buckle, clip, hook) are very well preserved with only minor, age-related wear. A fully matching and authentic carry set.
Historical context: Late-period SA service dagger (RZM production)
The SA service dagger was introduced in 1933 as a symbolic sidearm of the Sturmabteilung (SA). From roughly 1938/39 onwards, production was increasingly controlled by the Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM), resulting in maker identification via standardized RZM codes on the blades.
Late variants often differ from early examples through material changes—such as silver-plated zinc fittings—and simplified manufacturing steps influenced by wartime conditions.
Vertical hangers are a notably scarcer carry variant within SA accessories. Complete, matching sets with original hanger and clear RZM marking are today sought-after additions to advanced collections.
