SA Dagger [Early Version] with 3-Piece Hanger by HACO, Berlin

This SA [Sturmabteilung] Dagger in EXC++ condition. Model 1933. The total length is 37.3 cm. Early Nickel fittings, lower guard with "B" stamp. The Dagger has the maker mark on the blade: HACO, Berlin.

Grip: The grip of this example apparently was given a coat of varnish or lacquer. This grip appears to be in good condition beneath the coating and is a medium contour ridge constructed example of fruitwood. The grip perfectly fits the crossguards. The nickel grip eagle is the “high-necked” type. There is minor wear to the bird’s head and breast feathering as well as the talons but the details are still there. The wing feathering, wreath and swastika are still quite crisp.

Blade: The blade of this example on the obverse, has some minor smudging on the surfaces but still grades at about excellent. The SA motto is deep and crisp, and has about 90% of the original factory darkening in the letter backgrounds. The trademark is the double circle type having the firm’s name and location, “HACO BERLIN”. The blade shoulders perfectly fit the crossguard contour.

Scabbard: The scabbard shell is completely straight. There is a little bit of age which appears mostly on the obverse facing, while the reverse is mostly free of age flaws. The scabbard, all in all, is in a very fine condition. The scabbard mounts continue the theme of matching patination, and are both in excellent condition. These mounts are retained by the original screws, which are unturned.The short hanger is beginning to show signs of age. The hanger mounts have matching patination, and the snap clip is the “long snout” variety. There is also a small key ring attached to the clip.
