SS Dagger [Late Model] by RZM M7/91 (1221/39 SS)

Original SS Service Dagger – late production variant with RZM marking. The blade bears the complete code “RZM M7/91” as well as the additional marking “1221/39 SS”, assigned to the manufacturer Karl Malsch-Spitzer, Steinbach.

Grip: Black wooden grip in the typical configuration of late-production SS daggers. Fitted with the SS runic emblem and the national eagle made of aluminum, both correctly crimped from the inside. The upper and lower crossguards are made of nickel silver and show tight, precise fit without looseness.

Blade: Mirror-bright, double-edged blade in very fine condition, free of rust, nicks or sharpening marks. The obverse shows the deeply and sharply etched SS motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue”. The reverse side is plain and carries the full RZM code “RZM M7/91”. The blade tip is fully intact and unshortened. The blade shoulders fit perfectly into the lower crossguard.

Scabbard: Steel scabbard with black lacquer finish. Both scabbard mounts are made of nickel-plated sheet steel and are secured on each side with two screws. No structural damage observed.

Historical Classification: SS Service Daggers with RZM Markings

From the mid-1930s onward, SS service daggers were increasingly produced under the supervision of the Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM). This system ensured standardized quality, controlled sourcing and official authorization of manufacturers.

The code M7/91 is attributed to the manufacturer Karl Malsch-Spitzer, Steinbach. The additional marking “1221/39 SS” refers to the internal RZM registration number and the year of approval 1939.

Late-production SS daggers often display a more utilitarian appearance, yet retain the defining features such as the motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue”. Original, unaltered examples with clear RZM markings are today highly sought-after collector’s pieces within the field of SS edged weapons.
