The blade shoulders fit precisely and without gaps into the lower crossguard —
a hallmark of high-quality workmanship.

a black blued coating.
The chain hanger is made of nickel-plated steel, typical for late-production
SS M1936 chained daggers.

mark “D.R.G.M.” (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster).
The chain remains in untouched original condition.
The links are pebbled and no longer factory-blackened (Siegert Type C).
The reverse side of the chain displays the typical SS stamp.
Historical Context: SS Chained Dagger M1936 and Chain Types C / I
The SS Chained Dagger M1936 was introduced as an advanced form of the early
SS service dagger, distinguished by its iconic chain hanger with Wotan knot and
SS symbolism.
Late-production examples frequently feature a plain, unmarked reverse while
retaining the motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue” on the front.
The chain variations are described differently in major reference works:
Ralf Siegert categorizes this chain as Type C,
while Thomas Wittmann classifies it as Type I.
Pebbled, non–factory-blackened links, a fully pierced Wotan knot, and the
“D.R.G.M.” marking are typical features of this late chain variant.
Original SS chained daggers with untouched chains, clear motto etching, and authentic
patina are considered highly desirable among collectors and are documented extensively
in specialist literature.
