SA Honor Dagger (Early Production) with Damascus Blade “PD” by Tiger Solingen

Early SA honour dagger from the production period 1933–1935, manufactured by Tiger Solingen. Executed with a high-quality damascus blade by P&D / Paul Dinger, Solingen. A particularly appealing collector’s piece from the early SA period, combining decorative character with technically interesting blade construction.

Grip: Brown wooden grip in early configuration. The national eagle and the enameled SA emblem are cleanly fitted, period-correctly clamped from the inside, and without damage. Overall, a coherent early grip assembly fully in keeping with the type.

Blade: Double-edged damascus blade in very good preserved condition. On the front is the SA motto “Alles für Deutschland”. The reverse bears the maker’s mark “Tiger Solingen”. The blade shoulders close cleanly against the lower crossguard. The tang is marked “P&D”, indicating the origin of the damascus blade from Paul Dinger, Solingen.

Scabbard: Iron scabbard with leather covering. Both fittings are decorated and secured laterally with two screws each. A visually very attractive configuration, fully appropriate to an honour dagger and with a distinct character of its own.

Historical Context: Early SA honour dagger with damascus blade

Early SA honour daggers from the years 1933 to 1935 belong among the particularly sought-after variants within the collecting field of SA edged weapons. While regular SA service daggers already possess a distinct traditional appearance, honour daggers fitted with a damascus blade stand out even more clearly through their representative and high-grade character.

Particularly interesting here is the combination of the maker Tiger Solingen with a damascus blade from P&D / Paul Dinger, Solingen. Such pieces clearly demonstrate that in high-quality honour daggers not only the assembling maker, but also the specialized blade supplier could be of major significance. The tang mark “P&D” underlines this production-related connection.

The classic SA motto “Alles für Deutschland” is here combined with a decorative damascus blade and a particularly attractive leather-covered scabbard. In complete and coherent preserved condition, such an SA honour dagger ranks among the appealing and technically interesting pieces within early SA production.
