SA Dagger [Early Version] by Justus Brenger & Co. (JUSTINUSWERK) Solingen

SA Service Dagger in early production from the manufacturing period 1933–1935, made by Justus Brenger & Co. / JUSTINUSWERK Solingen. The lower crossguard bears the maker-matching group mark “BO” for Bayerische Ostmark. The dagger has the typical construction of an early SA service dagger with nickel crossguards, brown wooden grip, internally prong-fastened grip emblems, a bright blade with motto and a blued iron scabbard.

Grip & Crossguards: Brown wooden grip in typical early configuration. The grip is fitted with a national eagle in nickel execution and the enameled SA emblem above it. Both grip emblems are internally prong-fastened in the period manner. The upper and lower crossguards are made of nickel. The reverse side of the lower crossguard bears the hand-stamped group mark “BO” for Bayerische Ostmark.

Blade: Bright, double-edged blade with visible crossgrain. The front side bears the SA motto “Alles für Deutschland”. The reverse side carries the maker logo “Justus Brenger & Co. / JUSTINUSWERK Solingen”. The blade shoulders fit cleanly and properly against the lower crossguard.

Scabbard: Iron scabbard with preserved original bluing. The scabbard has no dents or major deformations. Both scabbard fittings are made of nickel-plated sheet steel and are each secured on the sides by two screws. The upper fitting has the suspension ring for the carrying hanger.

Condition: The dagger is in well-preserved condition with age-related traces. The wooden grip is preserved, the grip emblems are seated in the grip, and the nickel crossguards show an age-appropriate surface. The blade is bright and shows visible crossgrain. The scabbard retains its original bluing and has no dents or major deformations.

The SA Service Dagger was introduced from 1933 onward as a sidearm worn within the SA. Early production examples from the period 1933–1935 often show nickel crossguards, internally prong-fastened grip emblems and maker markings on the blade.
