RLB (Reichsluftschutzbund) Daggers
In our RLB / Reichs-Luftschutz-Bund Daggers category, discover an exclusive selection of original RLB daggers and historical decorations from the Third Reich era. The Reichsluftschutzbund (RLB) served as the state's official air raid protection organization and was founded in 1935 by Aviation Minister Hermann Göring. RLB units focused on preparing the German population for civil defense measures. From 1936 onward, regular members of the organization received a dagger.
The dagger featured nickel-plated fittings, a black ebony grip, and a black-painted scabbard. The short hanger was fixed permanently to the scabbard. The first model included an applied grip emblem showing the organization's initials, RLB, in blue enamel overlaid on a silver sunburst.
The second model appeared in 1938. It was largely the same dagger, but the grip emblem now displayed a large black-enameled swastika over a sunburst. The blades had a simple polished surface. RLB officers initially used daggers with a single scabbard suspension ring and an early RLB-lettered insignia on the grip. The dagger includes silvered nickel fittings, a leather-covered grip, and a matching scabbard body. A second officer model was launched in 1938. It was almost identical to the prior type, except the new RLB insignia—a large black-enameled swastika grip emblem—replaced the earlier RLB grip emblem. Furthermore, a central ramp was added to the scabbard to support a stronger two-strap hanging system. Many first-model daggers were upgraded to second models during that time. Our collection features rare items with knots, scabbards, and full equipment, highlighting the NS air protection tradition.
