NSKK Marine Dagger [Early Version] by Carl Schmidt Sohn Solingen
Rare NSKK Motorboat Standard Service Dagger in an early production version (1933–1935), manufactured by the Solingen maker Carl Schmidt & Sohn, Solingen. This example shows the typical nickel fittings associated with early manufacture and bears the group marking “He” (Hessen) on the lower guard. Overall, the construction is coherent and clearly classifiable for collectors.
Grip: Brown wooden grip in the typical form. The inset national eagle is of nickel type, above it is the enamelled SA emblem. Both emblems are original and crimped from the inside. Both crossguards are of nickel. The lower guard is reverse stamped with the hand-struck group marking “He”.
Blade: Double-edged blade with preserved surface. The obverse bears the SA motto “Alles für Deutschland”. The reverse carries the maker marking “Carl Schmidt & Sohn Solingen”. The original leather blade buffer is present.
Scabbard: Steel scabbard with black painted finish. The scabbard mounts and crossguards show a slightly darker patina on the front, consistent with age. The mounts are retained by two side screws each. The upper mount is fitted with the hanging ring for the belt suspension.
Measurements: Overall length approximately 37.9 cm.
Historical Classification: NSKK Motorboat Standard Service Dagger (early production 1933–1935)
The NSKK service dagger was carried from 1933 onward as a sidearm of the National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK). Variants associated with the motorboat standards represent a specialized form within the NSKK dagger type.
Examples from the early production period (1933–1935) are often identifiable by solid nickel fittings and overall high-quality manufacture. The group marking “He” (Hessen) is a period designation used for collector classification.
Daggers with clear maker attribution, coherent early components and a well-preserved motto are sought after today, particularly when the group marking is cleanly visible.
