German Napola Presentation Dagger or NPEA Honor dagger with complete Holthoff inscription. NPEA Bensdorf with dedication by the prison director. Model 1936. The grip is made of genuine ebony. Fine inserted eagle of silver. The blade is still in very good condition. The front has the typical NPEA motto: Mehr Sein als Scheinen. [Be modest but always excel.] and the manufacturer's logo Carl Eickhorn Solingen is located at the front, which was only in this case the honor dagger, (see literature by Ron Weinand, Waffenleite Presenting NPEA Daggers oft he THIRD REICH, page: 173-174). On the back of the blade is a rare blade inscription: In treuer Kameradschaft Holthoff [In true comradeship Holthoff]. Paul Holthoff was prison director of the National Political Education Institute (NAPOLA) in Bensberg. Both crossguards from the inside with the same mark. The scabbard is blued. The dagger is in a pristine condition as found. Hanger added later. Very rare NPEA Honor Dagger, of which there are only a handful known. This dagger was intended tobe worn by the student who received the piece.
