The Blood Order (Ehrenzeichen vom 9. November 1923) was one of the highest awards of the NSDAP. It was established in March 1934 by Adolf Hitler to honor the participants and fallen members of the failed coup in Munich on 8–9 November 1923. Initially awarded only to “Old Fighters” of the party, the award criteria were expanded in 1938 to include long-serving members and special contributors.
