SS Dagger [Late Model] with Exclamation Point Motto by RZM M7/29
Rare SS Service Dagger [late variation] with the unusual motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue !” (with exclamation mark). Maker’s code on the reverse of the blade: RZM M7/29 – Haan Klittermann & Moog GmbH, Solingen.
Grip: The grip is made of black ebony wood. In the center is the enameled SS rune insignia, positioned above the nickel national eagle. Both emblems are original, firmly set and pinned from inside. The grip shows only minor handling traces and fits precisely into the crossguards.
Blade: Mirror-polished and in excellent condition, with a deeply etched inscription: “Meine Ehre heißt Treue !”. The rarity lies in the exclamation mark at the end of the motto, a feature found only on very few maker variations. The reverse is etched with the RZM code M7/29 (Klittermann Haan & Moog GmbH, Solingen). The blade shoulders fit exactly into the lower crossguard.
Scabbard: Original iron scabbard with black factory lacquer in very good condition. The fittings are made of nickel-plated steel and are attached with two side screws. The upper fitting has the suspension ring for the dagger hanger.
Hanger: Black leather hanger with the original RZM-marked clip, stamped RZM M5/25 (Christian Theodor Dicke, Lüdenscheid). Preserved in authentic condition.
Historical Context: SS Service Daggers
SS service daggers were officially introduced in 1933 as the sidearm for members of
the Schutzstaffel (SS). Beyond being a weapon, they served as a powerful symbol of loyalty and identity.
The blade always bore the motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue” (“My Honor is Loyalty”).
Variants featuring an exclamation mark after the motto are extremely rare and can be
attributed only to a few manufacturers, including Klittermann Haan & Moog Solingen.
Early SS daggers were produced with high-quality nickel and silver fittings. Later examples, such as
this one, are marked with RZM codes, reflecting production after 1936 when centralized
manufacturing regulations were enforced.
Today, SS daggers – especially rare motto variations like those with the exclamation mark – are among
the most sought-after edged weapons in the world of militaria collecting.
