Luftwaffe Paratrooper Gravity Knife 1st Model 1936, Type 1a, manufactured by SMF Solingen. The knife has brown walnut wooden grip plates, a single-edged sliding blade made of stainless steel, a side-folding release lever, a fold-out marlin spike / awl and a riveted suspension bracket. The release lever is marked with the number 824.
Grip & Housing: Brown grip plates made of walnut wood. The knife body has the typical construction of the early paratrooper gravity knife. The side-folding release lever is used to operate the sliding blade. The release lever bears the number 824.
Blade: Single-edged sliding blade made of stainless steel. The blade has been shortened to approximately 49 mm. The blade bears the maker marking SMF Solingen.
Awl & Suspension Bracket: A fold-out marlin spike / awl is located on the narrow side of the knife body. The suspension bracket is riveted and corresponds to the early construction of this knife type.
