Luftwaffe Dagger [1937] with blade etching on both sides by Emil Voos Solingen
This 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger, produced by Emil Voos and is in EXC++ condition overall. Model 1937. The total length is 41.5 cm. The Dagger has blade etching on both sides.
Grip: The Grip of this dagger is a fine, off-white color. It is tightly wrapped with twisted silver wire. The pommel is the style with pebbled backgrounds to the oak leaves. These oak leaves are nicely detailed, and they surround the raised swastikas that appear on both sides of the pommel. The crossguard is also a great example. The generic variety has large pebbling on the reverse panel. The eagles on these guards are especially nice as the tops of the wings slightly overlap the depiction. This bird has complete detail to the head, breast and wing feathering, as well as the talons.
Blade: The blade of this dagger is totally new-like, with a pristine mirror finish and a needle-like tip. There is no flaking whatsoever and all of the etch frosting is 100% intact. The etch features a floral design on the obverse, with a center panel containing an Art Deco style Luftwaffe Eagle. The reverse is completely etched with floral patterns. The reverse ricasso of the blade is etched with the circular design formed by the firm's name and location, “Emil Voos Solingen”. The original leather washer is in place.
Scabbard: The scabbard is also a fine example. It is coated with an airplane gray finish. It has outstanding crisp pebbled panels and the bands are a fine aluminum having excellent detail to the oak leaves. The throat is slightly thick and is retained by two side-screws.
