Tiegel Karl TIEGELWERK, Riemberg

Karl Tiegel (TIEGELWERK): A Rare Manufacturer from Riemberg, Silesia

The Karl Tiegel (TIEGELWERK), Stahlwarenfabrik, was founded in 1877 in Riemberg, Silesia (now Rościsławice, Poland). The company specialized in producing butcher, kitchen, and professional knives and expanded during the Nazi era to edged weapons, particularly SA service daggers. In 1935, it received the RZM code M7/81 and the SS contract code 1241/##/SS, assigned for the production of political daggers. The company maintained a depot in Solingen-Gräfrath, linking it to the blade-making tradition. Its RZM license was revoked on November 11, 1941, and production likely ceased in 1945 with the Russian advance.

The firm produced approximately 1,000 SA service daggers (Sturmabteilung) and some NSKK daggers from 1938-1940, rated with a rarity of 5/5 as extremely rare. These daggers bear the motto "Alles für Deutschland" and typically feature nickel-silver fittings. Other products include general steel goods.

The logo of Karl Tiegel (TIEGELWERK) consists of an oval emblem with the text "KARL TIEGEL" along the upper arc and "RIEMBERG SCHL." along the lower arc. In the center is a stylized diamond with a crossed hammer and chisel, in dark gray on a transparent background, symbolizing craftsmanship and quality.

Today, the products of Karl Tiegel (TIEGELWERK) are coveted collectibles that embody the historical development of the Silesian edged weapons industry. The limited production and focus on Nazi weapons make them an important example of the Nazi era, ideal for an encyclopedia on blank weapons manufacturers. We are interested in purchasing products from this manufacturer.
