Kohl Paul (FISCHERWERK)

The Paul Kohl (Fischerwerk), Stahlwarenfabrik, was founded in 1908 in Solingen-Foche, although some sources suggest origins as early as 1816. The company was officially registered with the Solingen chamber of commerce on December 3, 1920, and initially specialized in manufacturing and selling razors, razor blades, and high-quality scissors. During the Nazi era, Paul Kohl expanded production to include edged weapons, particularly early SA service daggers. By 1939, the firm was located at Schlagbaumer Straße 172-4 in Solingen-Foche, and by 1942, it also produced forgings and surgical instruments. No RZM code was assigned, limiting production to the early phase of NSDAP equipment.

The firm specialized in SA service daggers (Sturmabteilung), produced in an estimated quantity of about 1,000 pieces. These daggers are rated with a rarity of 4.5/5 as highly rare. They bear the motto "Alles für Deutschland" and were produced without RZM marking. Other products include razors, scissors, and later forgings as well as surgical instruments.

The logo of Paul Kohl (Fischerwerk) consisted of a stylized stick figure holding a large fish in the right hand – a trademark registered in 1922, playing on the name "Fischerwerk." This mark was used on products and underscored the manufacturer's artisanal tradition.

Today, the products of Paul Kohl represent a rare chapter in the Solingen manufacturer history of the edged weapons industry. The limited production and focus on early Nazi weapons make them an important example of the Nazi era, ideal for an encyclopedia on Solingen manufacturers. We are interested in purchasing products from this manufacturer.
