Purchase: Royal Bulgarian Dagger M1938 for members of the "Arbeitsfront" by Puma Solingen
This PUMA example is very attractive Royal Bulgarian Dagger Model, 1938. The maker mark is stamped by Puma Solingen. The dagger was worn by officers of the Bulgarian Labour Front in the period 1938-1945. Overall length: 412 mm.
Grip: The grip is a fine, celluloid type. The grip is tightly wrapped with twisted brass wire. The head of the handle is cast brass, in the form of a crown. The lower sleeve is brass, with relief ornament of oak leaves. The crossguard is brass, massive, on one side ends with a lion's head, slightly sloping downwards, on the other side with a stylised image of a shovel and pickaxe. In the middle on a rectangular plate of white metal there is an image of the Bulgarian coat of arms, on the reverse side - a rectangle without any image.
Blade: The blade of this example is in EXC++ condition. The reverse ricasso is stamped with the PUMA trademark. On the heel of the blade is clearly visible the branding of the manufacturing company - ‘Puma Solingen’ - the branding of the German company Puma Solingen.
Scabbard: The scabbard is leather, black in colour. The device of the scabbard is brass, consists of a tip, decorated with ornament of oak leaves, a mouth and a nut. The mouth and the nut are made in the form of a ribbon of oak leaves with relief rings for fastening the straps of the harness. On the front side of the sheath is attached a white metal shield with the emblem of the Labour Front and its motto: ‘Labour for Bulgaria!, Труд за Болгарию!’.
