SS Dagger [Early Model] with Exclamation Point Motto & number 367367 by Haan Klittermann & Moog Solingen
Early SS service dagger from the production period 1933–1935, featuring the rare exclamation mark “!” in the motto and an SS membership number “367367”. Manufactured by Haan, Klittermann & Moog, Solingen. This is an early variant with nickel silver fittings and regional markings.
Grip: Black ebony grip in early construction. Fitted with SS runes and the national eagle, both executed in nickel and period-correctly crimped from the inside. Both crossguards and the pommel nut are of nickel silver. The lower guard is stamped with the Roman numeral “I” (Munich), and below it the SS membership number “367367” is clearly stamped.
Blade: Double-edged blade in very good condition. The obverse shows the deeply and sharply etched SS motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue !” with the characteristic exclamation mark. The reverse bears the maker mark “Haan, Klittermann & Moog, Solingen”. The blade shoulders fit precisely and without stress to the lower guard.
Scabbard: Steel scabbard with black finish. The scabbard fittings are of nickel silver and each is secured by two side screws. The upper fitting retains the suspension ring.
Historical context: Early SS service dagger with exclamation mark
The SS service dagger was introduced in 1933 as the sidearm of the Schutzstaffel (SS). Early examples are typically characterized by high-quality materials such as nickel silver fittings and carefully executed blades.
Particularly scarce are daggers with the motto including an exclamation mark “!”. Numbered examples with a clearly stamped SS membership number are likewise sought after, as they can allow a more direct historical attribution.
The Roman numeral “I” indicates the SS district Munich. Combined with the maker Haan, Klittermann & Moog, Solingen, this represents a desirable early variant for advanced SS dagger collections.
