Crossguard for Army Officer’s Dagger M1935

Crossguard for the Army Officer’s Dagger Model 1935 as a replacement part, restoration part or reference piece. The crossguard shows the typical form used on the Army Officer’s Dagger with central Army eagle and wings extending to both sides. The part is suitable for completing or restoring a corresponding dagger, provided the fit is checked beforehand.

Construction: The crossguard has the characteristic shape of the Army Officer’s Dagger Model 1935. The central section shows the Army eagle with wreath and swastika. The wings extend outward on both sides and continue into the curved ends of the crossguard. The reverse side is shaped for mounting within the dagger assembly.

Condition: Preserved individual part with age- and storage-related traces. The contours of the eagle, wings and overall shape remain visible. The surface shows age-related patina. Before use on a dagger, the fit, position and compatibility with grip, blade and grip ring should be checked.

Use: Suitable as a replacement part for an Army Officer’s Dagger Model 1935, especially where the original crossguard is missing, damaged or not matching. The part may also be used as a reference piece for collectors of Army daggers, edged-weapon spare parts and restoration components.

Historical Background: Crossguard for the Army Officer’s Dagger Model 1935

The Army Officer’s Dagger Model 1935 consisted of several assembled components: grip, grip ring, pommel, crossguard, blade and scabbard. The crossguard is one of the visible fittings of this dagger model and usually carries the Army eagle as its central motif.

For replacement parts of Army Officer’s Daggers, the shape, surface, material, fit and condition are relevant. Individual dagger parts were often preserved separately from complete pieces. Crossguards are therefore used today for completion, restoration or comparison purposes.

The crossguard described here is presented as a historical replacement part and period collector’s item. The description is limited to its construction, condition and possible use.
