German Army Officer’s Dagger [M1935]
Army Officer’s Dagger of the German Army, Model 1935. This example features a plain, unmarked blade, as encountered on a number of originally issued officer daggers. The total length is approximately 40.0 cm.
Grip: Round grip with double twisted grooves, manufactured from yellow Trolon. The grooves are of convex form and well defined. The conical pommel is screwed onto the tang and decorated with 12 oak leaves. At the lower end of the grip is the grip ring with 7 oak leaves. The crossguard is formed as a national eagle, facing left and holding a wreath with swastika in its talons; the swastika has been professionally restored.
Blade: Double-edged, bright steel blade without maker’s marking. The original blade buffer is present between the blade shoulders and the lower crossguard.
Scabbard: Steel scabbard consisting of a throat and two oak leaf decorated bands with two loose, fully closed suspension rings. The scabbard is drawn from a single sheet of steel and shows the typical pebbled surface texture on both front and reverse. The tip is rounded and undamaged. The throat is separately fitted and secured on the reverse with a single screw.
