Navy Officer Dagger [2nd Model] with Knot by F.W. Höller Solingen
This 2nd Model German Naval Dagger (Ger.: Kriegsmarine Offiziersdolch) is in Near Mint condition and complete with Knot. The maker mark is by F.W. Höller Solingen.
Grip: The grip is tightly wrapped with twisted brass wire. The crossguard has good detail to the fouled anchor center block. Acanthus leaves decorate the surfaces of both of the crossguard arms, and they end in nipple-centered buttons.
Blade: The dark and crisp acid etched fouled anchor blade on this one looks great! The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The reverse ricasso is etched with the early form of the Höller trademark, being slightly more detailed that later versions. It features a set of double ovals which contain the firm's name and location, “F.W. Höller Solingen”. Inside is the famous thermometer logo, with too many digits to ever count... or 17 on each side. The leather buffer is still in place. The brown buffer pad continues to remain intact.
Scabbard: The scabbard is straight throughout and has an excellent hammered finish. This finish is nicely set off by the straight-across bands. These bands feature overlapping oak leaves with acorns in between and show only mild wear. The eyelets have the hammered finish.
