SA Dagger [Early Variant] - Puma Solingen
This early dagger is equipped with fine solid nickel hilt mounts. The tang nut does not appear to have ever been out of this dagger. The tang nut and crossguard all have a very fine dull patina throughout. The lower crossguard is Gruppe marked on the reverse, Wm which stands for Westmark. The grip is a beautiful medium contour constructed type. This grip is in complete perfect condition and fits the crossguards like a rubber glove. The SA runes button is perfectly installed with 100% enamel. The grip eagle is the style with beak that points upwards slightly. This bird still has full details to his eye, breast feathering, wing feathering, talons, wreath and mobile swastika. A fine hilt here. The scabbard shell is straight throughout. This shell has almost all of its original anodizing as well as about 85% of the original factory lacquer. There is a little bit of age that has moved into the surfaces but it is not bad. This is still an excellent shell. The matching scabbard mounts have the same patina as the guards and they are in near perfect condition to include the lower ball which just has an extremely minor ding in the bottom area. The original early nickel screws are all in place and are unturned. This blade is mirror bright. The SA motto is very deep. On the reverse ricasso is the great looking trademark of this firm. It consists of a stylized Puma head. Above the animal’s head is the firm’s name, PUMA and below the location city of Solingen. The blade shoulders perfectly meet the lower crossguard contour. An outstanding and very desirable early SA dagger.
