Historical Context: SS Honour Dagger with Ernst Röhm Dedication
The SS Honour Dagger inscribed “In herzlicher Kameradschaft Ernst Röhm”
ranks among the rarest edged weapons of the Third Reich.
These daggers were awarded in 1934 to selected SS members who demonstrated
special loyalty to the SS leadership in its formative years.
Following the so-called “Röhm Putsch” in June 1934, production ceased immediately.
Issued examples were recalled, and most inscriptions were removed.
Only a few survived with the full dedication intact —
they are today regarded as some of the most valuable relics of early SS history.
The maker Robert Klaas, Solingen, is particularly scarce among Röhm daggers.
His pieces are noted for their precise etching, clean lines,
and finely crafted nickel fittings.
Original Klaas examples with the complete Röhm dedication are considered
top-tier masterpieces of early SS dagger production.
