Imperial Russian M1927 cossack army shashka by ZIK. Soviet star is engraved on the bird's head pommel. The swords of this pattern were issued to the imperial cossack armies. The blade shows following Russian markings. Brass mounts of the hilt and scabbard. All three brass mounts of the scabbard display a letter. Plain, slightly curved blade with several Imperial Russian proof marks. Spiral wood grip. Brass mounted, leather covered hardwood scabbard without provision for a bayonet (correct for cossack shashkas). Overall length in scabbard: 96,8 cm. The wooden grip is slightly worn, but overall still in fine condition. The blade is in fine condition with some light polishing and sharpening marks. The scabbard is in excellent condition. The leather is nicely preserved. Most likely, the leather was treated with some kind of the black leather preserve wax.
