Husaren Brunswick Cavalry Degen M1889 - Braunschweig
This German 17Th Husaren Brunswick Hussars Prussian Cavalry Sword KD89 is quite a lightweight weapon.
Grip: The grip of the sword is the traditional black Bakelite, with ribs, and having no wire wrap. The nickel is in fine condition throughout this hilt. The hilt is in the traditional Model '89 Cavalry design. It is of all nickel, and has a stationary basket featuring a Brunswick lion. The basket is all pierced. The original portepee remains wrapped about the hilt of this degen. It is of gold bullion with dual lines on the straps.
Blade: The blade is regimentally etched to Husaren Regiment Nr. 15, which is the 15th Hussars, Brunswick Hussars (Braunschweigisches Husaren Nr. 15). The back side of the blade is etched "Peninsula. Waterloo. El Boden. Barossa.", which are battles where the unit fought.
Scabbard: The scabbard is a straight example and painted black. The scabbard is fitted with one ring carriage.
