Water Custom Official's Dagger by E.&F. Hörster Co. Solingen

This Water Custom Official's Dagger shows some age and it is in EXC++ condition. Model 1937. The total length is 41.0 cm. The Dagger has the maker mark on the blade: E.&F. Hörster Co. Solingen.

Grip: The grip is a hard carved wood base, covered with rich blue Moroccan leather. The leather retains all of its fine grain and remains in perfect throughout. The grip is tightly wrapped with gild brass twisted wire. The dagger is a high-quality example. The pommel has about 95% of the gild finish. The gilding still remains over the 14 standing oak leaves that round around the circumference. The gilded brass crossguard is great to examine. The eagle is an open-wing variety with the wing tips pointing upward. The bird's head, breast feathering and wreathed swastika are also enhanced. The reverse guard is nice and smooth, also having its gild finish.

Blade: This blade was polished and shows some signs of age. The reverse ricasso is E.&F. Hörster Co. Solingen trademark. There is a leather washer in place.

Scabbard: The scabbard shell is straight throughout. The matching Moroccan leather covering is in perfect condition, also retaining its grain. Overall, the scabbard gilding is about 97%. The mounts are in perfect condition, having the single accent groove running on the edges that meet the scabbard shell, but they are only on the obverse. The eyelets are smooth surfaced with rounded shape. These mounts are retained by single flat head screws installed on the left edge only.
