Duck, K. Himmelstoss - Rosenthal

Mallard Duck Alone Figurine, Rosenthal – Selb – Bavaria, Karl Himmelstoß. This is Rosenthal model number 171. It is actually called ‘Duck Alone’. Very famous German sculptor Karl Himmelstoß (1878 – 1967) designed this figurine in 1912. He is known for architectural and small sculptures. Amongst his clients were Heinrich, Hutschenreuther, KPM and Nymphenburg. Himmelstoß worked for Rosenthal from 1912 to 1938 and designed the second highest number of figurines after Ferdinand Liebermann in the early years of the art department in Selb.
