SA Dagger [Early Version] by C. G. Haenel, Suhl
This SA [Sturmabteilung] Haenel Dagger is in EXC+ condition. Model 1933. The total length is 37.3 cm. Early Nickel fittings, lower guard with "Sa" (Sachsen) stamp. The Dagger has the maker mark on the blade: C. G. Haenel, Suhl.
Grip: This Suhl-produced dagger is in nice condition. The nickel crossguards are in good condition as is the nickel tang nut. The lower reverse crossguard is Gruppe marked "Sa". The grip has medium to high ridge construction with nice, pleasing, grain running vertically throughout. The grip fits the crossguards like a rubber glove. The SA runes button is perfectly placed. The enamel appears to have a small rub, just next to the "a Sigrunne".
Blade: The blade of this example, does show some wear, and some age to its surfaces. The tip is still needle like, however. This blade rates at about excellent. The reverse ricasso is etched with the arrow logo, containing the firm's name "HAENEL" within the arrow. Beneath the arrow is the firm's name and location, and the fact that they made weapons, as well as bicycles. A portion of this wording is worn on the center area. It is marked, "C.G. HAENEL SUHL WAFFEN FAHRRAD" The blade shoulders perfectly meet the crossguard contour.
Scabbard: The scabbard shell is straight throughout. The scabbard mounts are the nickel type and they are in good condition throughout to include the lower ball. The nickel screws are all in place.
