SA Dagger [Early Version] with Hanger by C. Remscheid & Co. Solingen
This SA [Sturmabteilung] Dagger in Near Mint condition. Model 1933. The total length is 36.7 cm. Early Nickel fittings, lower guard with "Wf" stamp. The Dagger has very rare maker mark on the blade: C. Remscheid & Co. (REMEVE) Solingen-Aufderhöhe.
Grip: The mounts on this example are all solid nickel. The lower crossguard is Gruppe marked, “Wf”. The grip is a fine furniture-like wood having a pleasing grain running lengthwise. This grip is of medium contour construction and is in fine condition exactly meeting the crossguards. The SA runes button has good enamel and is perfectly placed. This eagle is in fine condition throughout having full details to its head, eye, breast and wing feathering, talons, wreath and mobile swastika.
Blade: The blade is in Mint condition. The SA motto Alles für Deutschland «Everything for Germany» is crisp and deep having most of the darkening in the background letters. The ricasso area still has the full trademark, Remscheid Cuno & Co. (REMEVE), Solingen-Aufderhöhe. The blade shoulders perfectly meet the lower crossguard contour.
Scabbard: The scabbard shell is a fine example, having just about all of the original anodized surface. There is also some original lacquer scattered around the scabbard. A few minor age spots are visible in the finish, but overall it is a pretty nice example. The scabbard mounts are of solid matching nickel, in good condition with just a minor ding to the bottom of the lower ball. The mounts are retained by solid nickel screws which are all in place. Attached to the carrying ring is a good short hanger. The hanger has supple leather and is complete with the small retaining ring.
