Luftwaffe Dagger [M1937] by Original Eickhorn Solingen

This 2nd Model Luftwaffe is in EXC+  condition throughout. Model 1937. The total length is 42.5 cm. The Dagger has the maker mark on the blade: Original Eickhorn, Solingen.

Grip: The leaves which butt up to the center ridge all have hand enhancing. The matching crossguard is also a fine example depicting an eagle flying to the viewer’s left clutching a mobile swastika in his talons. The bird has fine detail throughout his eye, beak and breast feathering. The reverse of the crossguard has good pebbling throughout. The grip is a very pretty tangerine color orange. It is in good condition.

Blade: The blade still grades at about near mint. The reverse ricasso is dark etched with the 1935-41 Eickhorn squirrel logo. The squirrel holds a downward pointing sword with the quality word above, “original”. Below is the firm’s name and location, “Eickhorn Solingen”.

Scabbard: The scabbard is the traditionally Eickhorn type. The carrying bands are the convex variety used by this firm having great detail to the oak leaves. The fat throat is retained by two headless side screws.
