RAD EM Hewer with Dedication [M1934] by E.D. Wüsthof Solingen
This RAD Dagger by Wüsthof is in EXC++ condition throughout. Model 1934 for RAD Hewer. The total length is 39.8 cm. The Hewer has the maker mark on the blade: E.D. Wüsthof Solingen.
Grip: The grip plates are real beauties, being genuine antler and having very pleasing colors to the raised grains. They are mostly a dark coffee color, with lighter areas on the raised sections. These grip plates are retained by two screws and spanners. The crossguard is a fine example, having all of the original darkening in the two grooves that extend to an upward curl at the end.
Blade: The blade is in fine condition and it has the typical matte finish and the Bowie-style end, with a fine narrow fuller. The obverse facing bears the RAD motto, “Arbeit Adelt”. This motto has the original factory background darkening. The reverse ricasso is marked with the trademark, E.D. Wüsthof Solingen and is etched with a RAD triangle, the protected patent term “Ges Gesch” and a dedication "Seinem Kameraden Feldmeister Friedrich Kirres, RAD - Abteilung 3/315 (W VIII) Niedersgegen".
Scabbard: The scabbard shell is completely straight. The paint is nearly 95% and retains an original factory shine. The nickel-plated scabbard mounts are also beauties. These mounts have perfect plating throughout, with the RAD curls at the upper mounts and the RAD spade and wheat stalks on the lower mount. These embellishments are in crisp, perfect condition. All of the stampings have the original background darkening. As is always the case with these pieces there is a line of beading that runs around the edges of the mounts where they meet the scabbard shell.
