German RAD Soldier with Steel Helmet 1941 (Pioneer) - Alfred Oppel

German Soldier with Steel Helmet 1941 (Pioneer), based on a design by Alfred Oppel (A. Oppel). White-glazed porcelain figure mounted on a pedestal, produced by the State Thuringian Porcelain Manufactory, formerly “Älteste Volkstedter GmbH” Rudolstadt-Volkstedt. Total weight: 1588 g. Dimensions: 375 × 210 × 120 mm.

The figure depicts a German soldier of 1941 wearing a steel helmet, shown in the role of a Pioneer / RAD Pioneer. The posture, uniform details and helmet shape reflect Alfred Oppel’s characteristic sculptural style from the early 1940s. The figure is finished in white glaze and stands on a rectangular porcelain pedestal.

On the underside is the original manufacturer’s mark: “Staatl. Thüringische Porzellan-Manufaktur vorm. älteste Volkstedter GmbH Rudolstadt-Volkstedt”. This mark is typical for pieces created within the Alfred Oppel period of the manufactory.

Condition: The figure is in complete and undamaged condition, with no visible chips or repairs.
