Large Silver State Presentation Frame - Adolf Hitler

Adolf Hitler Silver Gift Frame (so-called state frame) without award case, silver gift frame with modern half-portrait photo of Adolf Hitler in uniform by Heinrich Hoffmann, with printed signature of Adolf Hitler, typical hand-hammered silver frame with three-stepped profile edge and applied party eagle (looking to the left) with the initials ‘A. H.‘, framed by a meandering band, the upper edge with jeweller's mark “FHW” (for Franz & Hermann Wandinger Munich), hallmark “925”’, as well as crescent moon and crown hallmark, brown marocco leather with intact mounting support on the reverse, dimensions 34.4 x 24 cm, height of silver frame 2.4 cm.

Expert's assessment: In my opinion, the silver frame described and photographed here and the accompanying award case (not included) are contemporary originals from the period of manufacture (except for the photo of Hitler, which is a modern reprint), which correspond to known original pieces in all stylistic and manufacturing characteristics of material, quality and workmanship. Minor tolerances are possible.

However, the silver frame was denazified after 1945 and the letters ‘A. H.’ were removed. The letters ‘A. H.’, the swastika and possibly also the national eagle were then reapplied quite skilfully at a later date, although there are clear deviations from the original letters and swastika of the time.
