SS Full Röhm Honor Dagger [Ernst Röhm] by Carl Eickhorn Solingen
Early SS honour dagger from the production period 1933–1935 with fully preserved Ernst Röhm dedication. The dagger was made by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen and shows the early maker mark with smooth / rounded tail. The lower crossguard is marked with the Roman numeral “I” and the workshop number “4”.
Grip: Ebony grip in early configuration. Fitted are the SS runes and the national eagle, both period-correct and clamped from the inside. The grip screw is undamaged. All fittings and crossguards are made of the high-quality nickel alloy nickel silver. Both crossguards are internally marked “H.” and “E.”. The lower crossguard additionally bears the stamped workshop number “4”.
Blade: Bright steel blade without rust, with 100% preserved crossgrain. The front bears the SS motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue” in a dark, sharply defined etch. The reverse carries the complete dedication “In herzlicher Kameradschaft Ernst Röhm”. Below is the maker’s mark “Carl Eickhorn, Solingen”. On both sides there are slight age-related rubbing marks from drawing the blade in and out of the scabbard. The blade shoulders fit exactly to the lower crossguard.
Scabbard: Iron scabbard with original blued finish. The scabbard is free from dents or bumps. The two fittings are made of nickel-plated sheet steel and are each secured laterally with two screws. The upper fitting carries the suspension ring for the hanger.
Historical Context: Early SS honour dagger with complete Ernst Röhm dedication
The early SS honour dagger with the full dedication “In herzlicher Kameradschaft Ernst Röhm” is among the most sought-after variants of the early SS daggers. Such pieces stem from the early production phase of 1933 to 1935 and differ clearly from later standard service daggers both in their higher-grade materials and in the presence of the special dedication.
Typical features of these early examples include nickel silver crossguards, early eagle and rune inlays, dark and sharply executed motto etching, and blades with strongly preserved crossgrain. The complete Röhm inscription in combination with an early maker mark makes such daggers especially desirable within the field of SS edged weapons.
The maker Carl Eickhorn, Solingen belongs among the best-known producers of high-quality edged weapons of this period. The early mark with smooth / rounded tail corresponds to the early manufacturing phase. In addition, internal markings on the crossguards and the stamped workshop number “4” further enhance the collector interest of the piece.
In a coherent early configuration with original blued scabbard, complete dedication and cleanly preserved blade, such an SS honour dagger belongs among the especially desirable collector’s pieces of historic German edged weapons.
