Portepee for officer’s daggers with a length of approximately 42 cm. Made from aluminium bullion in period-style construction. The portepee is suitable as an accessory or replacement part for various German officer’s daggers, depending on model, configuration and intended display. The condition is listed as condition grade 2.
Construction: Made from light, metallic-looking aluminium bullion with woven strap and closed knot. The overall length is approximately 42 cm. Portepees were used on officer’s daggers as decorative wearing accessories and are today also sought after for completing or restoring existing dagger sets.

Historical Background: Portepee for Officer’s Daggers
Portepees were used on military edged weapons as decorative and traditional wearing accessories. They were attached to the grip, guard or hilt area of a dagger or sword and formed part of the complete appearance of many officer’s sidearms.
On German officer’s daggers, portepees appeared in different versions depending on branch of service, rank and wearing regulations. Versions made from aluminium bullion are typical for many 20th-century pieces and are today often sought after to complete daggers, hangers and display sets.
