Weimar Period Police Clamshell Bayonet by WKC Solingen

Weimar Period Police Clamshell Bayonet by WKC Solingen. The total length is 44,2 cm.

Grip:  The grip plates are of fine genuine stag having pleasing brown colors. They are retired by two nickel rivets which have dressed heads on the obverse. The insignia is the Weimar type having the six-sided sunburst star with a Prussian-type eagle in the center. The clamshell has the usual highly detailed Prussian eagle and looks great. The crossguard has the traditional overlapping oak leaves and on the reverse is plain in the center with the oak leaves continuing through the quillon area.

Blade: The blade measures 29 cm long having wide fuller construction and needle-like tip. The nickel plating is good except in the enter area there is a little bit of spotting on both sides of the blade in the same place. Otherwise the blade is nice and overall would grade at least NEAR MINT. The ricasso is marked with the WKC trademark.

Scabbard: The scabbard shell is of black leather having twin accent lines on the edges. The mounts are the type with scalloped edges and they are both retained with staples and have numbers beneath. The black leather frog is a nice one which appears original to the piece. This frog dating goes very nicely with the vintage of this bayonet.
