Historical Background: Panzer Assault Badge with Engagement Number

The Panzer Assault Badge was instituted on 20 December 1939 and awarded to members of the Panzer troops for proven combat participation in armored engagements. In addition to the basic silver and bronze grades, engagement number badges were introduced in 1943 to recognize repeated frontline service.

The “25” engagement level represents a high award grade and documents prolonged and intensive service under combat conditions. Due to the high casualty rates among tank crews, these higher engagement numbers were awarded in comparatively limited numbers.

The maker Gustav Brehmer, Marneukirchen is regarded as one of the established producers of high-quality Wehrmacht decorations. Original examples with clear maker marks and untouched pin assemblies are today considered top-tier collector pieces.
