SA Dagger [Early Version], German - Carl Aug. Meis GMBH Solingen

This tagged SA Dagger is quite a beauty having outstanding nickel-plated crossguards and tang nut. The upper crossguard is in perfect condition having fine bright finish. The same is true of the lower crossguard on the obverse and on the reverse there is just a little bit of lifting on the left and right quillon with a couple of tiny specks in the center area. The tang nut is in choice perfect condition and does not look to have been turned. The grip is absolutely perfect throughout and fits the crossguards like a glove. The SA runes button is perfectly placed and has outstanding enameled surfaces. The grip eagle is a nickel variety being the style with “beak which points upwards slightly”. This bird has full nickel-plated finish and all details are crisp to the bird’s head, breast feathering, wing feathering, talons, wreath and mobile swastika. Attached to the grip via a rivet is the original issue tag. Next to this are the lines which do not have a rubber code stamping rendered. This tag is in excellent condition showing no tearing or soft spots. The rivet is firmly in place and has never been taken off. The scabbard shell is straight throughout. This shell has a fine chocolate brown coat of paint. There are a couple of extremely minor marks in the paint which were probably caused by the short hanger. Other than these small marks the paint is still 100% and still has its fine factory newness to the color. The scabbard mounts are the nickel-plated steel variety. They are in completely mint perfect condition. The mounts are retained by dome head unturned screws which still retain their nickel plating. The short hanger attached is in new-like condition. The leather is a pristine brown color and still has the new look to the interior surfaces of the leather. The short hanger is complete with the small retainer loop. The nickel-plated hardware is in perfect condition with the snap clip being marked, “A”, DRGM. The blade of this example is in perfect mint condition having 100% of the crossgraining. There are the normal runner marks only but the rest is perfect. The SA motto is nice and crisp with 100% of the dark backgrounding in all of the letters. At the bottom of the blade is the logo of this firm: Carl Aug. Meis GMBH Solingen (Gegr.: 1872). The blade shoulders perfectly meet the lower crossguard contour. A very fine choice conditioned unissued SA dagger. A rare opportunity here to acquire an unissued SA dagger.
