Army Officer’s Dagger with Double Etched Blade by Robert Klaas Solingen

This Army Officer's Dagger is in NEAR MINT condition with Portepee. Model 1935. The total length is 40.0 cm. The Dagger has the maker mark on the blade: Robert Klaas Solingen.

Grip: The grip is a beautiful, white type and remains in fine condition. The pommel shows minor traces of carrying time on the upper end, but still has frosting around the edges. The 12 standing oak leaves are in perfect condition, all having hand enhancement.

Blade: The blade of this dagger is totally new-like, with a pristine mirror finish and a needle-like tip. There is no flaking whatsoever and all of the etch frosting is 100% intact. The etch features a floral design on the obverse, with a center panel containing an Art Deco style Army Eagle. Beneath each wing is a sprig of oak leaves. The reverse is completely etched with floral patterns. The logo is the stamped Robert Klaas kissing cranes that is considered to be the only accepted maker for these rare daggers. The original leather washer is in place.

Scabbard: This scabbard is straight and has excellent silver plating. This plating is nicely patinated throughout. The bands are particularly interesting as they depict oak leaves which have been completely hand rendered, with nicely detailed bands featuring the distinctive Klaas astrix (*). These oak leaves have pebbled backgrounds and are made in a series of lines to resemble veins. The throat is fairly thick and is retained by a two screws.
