RAD Enlisted Mans Hewer [M1934] by Gottlieb Hammesfahr Solingen

This RAD Dagger by Krebs is in EXC+ condition throughout. Model 1934 for RAD Hewer. The total length is 39.5 cm. The Hewer has the maker mark on the blade: Gottlieb Hammesfahr Solingen.

Grip: The stag grip plates are extremely nice, showing no wear. The front plate is lighter than the revere, with shades of tan that darken as they get deeper. The trimmed during the mounting process have all toned to a golden yellow. The reverse grip plate is darker with deeper grains. The screws on this example were installed from the reverse with the spanners visible on the obverse. Studying the screw heads we see they are also completely new-like and have never suffered the touch of a tool.

Blade: The blade is in EXC++ condition and it has the typical matte finish and the Bowie-style end, with a fine narrow fuller. The obverse facing bears the RAD motto, “Arbeit Adelt”. This motto has 100% of the original factory background darkening. The reverse ricasso is marked with the Gottlieb Hammesfahr Solingen trademark and is etched with a RAD triangle, the protected patent term “Ges Gesch”.

Scabbard: The scabbard is also in remarkably good shape. The nickel-plated mounts are also in fine shape, the upper mount having lined RAD curls and fine beading. The same beads appear on the lower mount at the scabbard edges. On both sides is a RAD Spade insignia resting between a pair of angled wheat stalks.
