SS Dagger [Early Model] by Böker, Solingen

SS [Schutzstaffel] Böker Dagger in early Version. Modell 1933. The dagger is in NEAR MINT condition throughout. This early SS Dagger is with the Maker Heinrich Böker, Solingen.

Grip: This grip shows no repairs, and fits the crossguards. The dagger is an untouched early Böker piece having solid nickel cross guards. These guards are the optional type used by Böker, and are marked internally with an "X" and the letter "H". The reverse lower cross guard is district marked with the Roman numeral, "I" for Munich. The guards are nice and smooth throughout, having crisp edges and precise accent grooves. The ebony grip is a very choice example having no flaws and showing almost no usage. The interesting SS runes button is turned all the way to 7:00 o'clock. The SS runes are nice and silvery, with matching double circles around them. The nickel grip eagle is the style with a beak that points upward slightly. It still has all of the details to the bird's head, breast and wing feathering, talons, wreath and mobile swastika.

Blade: The blade is bright throughout and shows a good deal of the original crossgrain. There are some usage signs here and there, but basically, this blade is in near Mint condition. There is also some "pimpling" that appears in the backgrounds of the letter font centers, which is typical of this maker. The reverse ricasso is marked with the "mausoleum-style" logo, having the stark, leafless tree in the center of the opening door to the crypt. The blade shoulders perfectly meet the lower cross guard.

Scabbard: The scabbard is straight. It has outstanding original black painted surfaces. The paint retains its original factory brightness and aside from a few normal signs of usage. The scabbard mounts are nickel with matching dull patination. They are both in outstanding condition, to include the lower ball. The four nickel screws are in place.

Hanger: The original-to-the-piece vertical hanger remains in really great condition with its coffin-shaped reverse. All of the leather is still supple to include the scabbard retainer strap and the strap with the buckle and hasp.
