Purchase: DLV Flyer’s Dagger [17”] by Adolf Braun Berlin

Braun Adolf Berlin

This extremly rare DLV Flyer´s Dagger [17” Model] is in EXC++ condition. The total length is 44.0 cm. Blade with Maker Adolf Braun Berlin.

Grip:  The grip of this example has a carved wood base and is covered with fine blue Moroccan leather. The grip is with wire wrap. The grip leather is in perfect condition. All mounts reflect a deep, never-cleaned patina throughout. The pommel is an outstanding example showing no hits to either of the edges. The inlaid gilded swastika on both sides is a beauty being completely flush with the rest of the pommel. The crossguard features a square center block also incorporating inlaid swastikas on both sides. The center block edges are still crisp throughout.

Blade: The blade of this piece is a 287 mm example, being in EXC+ condition, with highest quality nickel-plated surfaces. This blade is stamped with the Adolf Braun Berlin trademark. The Adolf Braun firm was listed as a distributor and depot for Alexander Coppel in Berlin.

Scabbard: The scabbard shell is a composition base covered with matching blue Moroccan leather. There is no steel in this scabbard base. This leather still remains in near mint condition. All of the original grain is still prominent on this leather. The shell has three silvered, nickel-based mounts. All have scalloped edges where they meet the shell. The mounts are secured by staples. All mounts are in perfect condition. Attached to the two carrying rings is a fine nickel chain. Solid nickel-silver chain hanger with 6 upper and 10 lower rings shows only light surface wear/yellow age patina and is complete with early unmarked nickel-silver clip.  The hanger is attached to the scabbard rings by the early “S” pattern connectors.
